HTML Email testing issues with Campaign Monitor…
1 Comment · Posted by Lee Scowcroft in General Chat
Ok, lets say that you use Campaign Monitor to test your email builds…
1) You setup a new campaign and then send a test to Litmus or use CM’s version of litmus ![]()
2) You then tweak and modify your code until your 100% happy after a few more tests (using litmus rather than via CM as its cheaper).
3) Confident, you then handover the assets to your clients marketing agency.
WAIT!
Your client then comes back to you saying that your code is wrong. But its tested you reply and send them a preview link.
WELL…
Please beware of using Campaign Monitor just for testing! As an all in one solution its great meaning that if you use it for testing, make sure you use it for the send (this combination really is great)!
WHY?
Mmmm, because they actually rewrite your inline style sheets (without asking).
Your options:
1) Be explicit with padding and margins (i.e. margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; rather than margin: 0 0 0 0;)
2) Don’t use CM for testing. I’ve found that if you use Email on Acid or Litmus (via upload not CM email send) then you’ll be fine.
This issue has affected many people and I’m sure its been answered before but these are my findings and I’m sharing. I welcome any comments!

How about 500 million potential website visitors?
No comments · Posted by Lee Scowcroft in General Chat
Over the past few months I’ve been trying to push the boundries with Expression Engine and social networking integration (aka EE and Facebook) and after weeks and weeks (including many all nighters and help from developer Jeramiah Young) I’ve developed a hybrid set of templates that can be added to any EE production that will allow both large (and small) brands to open their potential audience to the Facebook community.
What does this mean?
Well, if you currently have or plan on using Expression Engine as your development foundation then we can extend your member base using viral tactics.
Say your website is offering some kind of competition whereby we rely on visitors to vote for entries. We can add full FB integration that automatically pushes entries to the users Facebook profile prompting friends to click through directly to the entry whilst forcing signup for voting rights. Simple(ish) execution but very effective for driving traffic – email me for more.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Da Vinci Communications Creative Director Steve Lord on numerous occasions over the years but this latest project is really exciting. The client, HCSS Education (based in Bollington) have set the industry on fire with their amazing education based accounting software for Academies, Schools, Authorities and have just undergone a major re-brand by Da Vinci which looks great. I’ve had the task of creating a dynamic web presence that will help HCSS offer clients something more, all based on the Expression Engine platform to allow fast, intuitive administration.

I’m working with the guys at Google to enhance a well known airlines geo-targeting delivery of online rich media banners. Some great creative executions that are based on user dialing code lookup to deliver relevant content. Loads of flash animations and AS3 Coding…

I’m working on a great online project at the moment using Solspaces Facebook Connect module and trying to push the boundries a bit in terms of application. More coming soon…
